The Patient Advisory Committee (PAC), established in 2008, was developed in partnership with your CF team to be able to provide patients with a voice in the quality of their own care within the hospital and clinic. The goal is to enhance the communication between the CF team and its patients to ensure the best possible methods of care and support are achieved. Within this section, you will be able to understand who makes up the PAC, how it is governed, the goals and objectives, and how you can get involved to become an advocate for your care here at the USC Center for Cystic Fibrosis.
Purpose:
The PAC is tasked with working in conjunction with your CF team to raise the level of care at the USC Center for Cystic Fibrosis. This will be achieved through a diverse group of your peers working to understand the daily operations of the clinic and formulate recommendations and improvements in care that the CF team can take into consideration for center wide implementation.
Representatives:
Members of the PAC consist of adult patients currently receiving care at the center. The members will be recommended by the CF team and acceptance of the position is purely on a voluntary basis.
Term:
Once voluntary acceptance of the position is achieved members shall serve a 12-month term beginning September 1st of each year with term being completed the following September. The size of the committee shall not exceed a maximum of 12 members and may vary depending on availability of voluntary members.
Duties:
Members are expected to regularly attend monthly PAC conference call meetings where the goals and objective of the committee will continually be addressed. Additionally, participation on subcommittee may be required on a project by project basis.
Goals & Objectives:
1. To improve quality of life of cystic fibrosis patients by providing peer support and encouragement.
2. To offer ideas and suggestions regarding policy and practice that affect patient-centered care.
3. To review recommendations and concerns as identified by patients, caregivers, staff, physicians, or administration.
4. To serve in an educational role, as needed or requested, regarding patient/caregiver perception of care and services.
